LA CASTANYADA FESTIVITY
In Catalonia, on 31st October we celebrate La Castanyada. This festival involves eating roasted chestnuts (usually wrapped in old newspapers) and panellets (almond pastries specially cooked for this festival). Our students make delicious panellets!
The festival is usually depicted with the figure of la castanyera: an old lady, dressed in peasant's clothing and wearing a headscarf, sitting behind a table, roasting chestnuts for street sale
In our school, moreover, in the morning we usually hold a make-up workshop and our libray coordinator, Blas, explanis some stories and tales to all students. In the afternoon, we gather at the playground to eat some roasted chestnuts, listen to some songs that talk about this old lady (la castanyera) and autumn.
Would you like to see our students celebrating it? Have a look...
BULGARIA
The students from our school visited Bailovo, a little
village in Sredna gora Mountains. Elin
Pelin - one of the most famous Bulgarian writers - was born there.
We visited the house where Elin Pelin was born. It is a
museum now.

KINDNESS DAY
Our school
organized charity event ‘Kindness Day’. Students wore costumes, wigs, big
sunglasses, hats and they were taken funny photos. They could donate some money
and then they received the leaves. Students wrote some nice wishes ‘Have a nice
day’ or ‘I like you’ ’for other students on the leaves and they hung the leaves
on the ‘Kindness Tree’. Students raised some money for an ill child.
